procrastination plus!

d@?!#... i did put this off just as long as i possibly could.

the beta version of Vista is expiring in just 1 week. RATS!

so. today i reformatted my external drive. did a full backup of the "monstro". two ways! using windows vista backup AND the direct copy method. learned my lesson the first time i installed the sucker. will NOT be stranded by a backup that Vista refuses to access, this time.

over the past few days, i've created text files listing all the software i had installed, all the drivers i needed to download... not going to miss anything, i hope. i even listed all the steps i wanted to take.

the install is proceeding, now. hopefully the monstro will be up and fully functional by monday...

yikes! it’s been a year (almost)!

so much for new year's resolutions and good intentions...

and it has been a very good year

• the grandboy has "graduated". he's in day school now and i am now just "nama" - no longer the babysitter (except for emergencies)


• i've not heard from one client for over a year, now. her website hasn't been updated at all in all that time. sigh...


• but i've picked up a new client on a "finder's fee sort of arrangement. two sites for him, and we're pretty happy with the arrangement.


• i've started attending the O*W*C chats on the web. i didn't realize how much i had missed them. such a really nice community.


• as a result, i finally attended my first "con". LAConIV (WorldCON) in anaheim, CA. i enjoyed it so much, i also attended LOSCon 33. i intend to go to Condor XIV. that's about as far away as i intend to travel for these events; i'm still a bit timid about going on my own.

well, at least i've got this working again. it's been posted to it's new home. i've even added an entry. more later...

well, i've been away again. somehow, i just don't seem to be truly dedicated to this particular task. the intention is here.... guess i'll just keep trying.

just a thought

just bought myself a brand new Toshiba tablet PC. I am thrilled. the product quality is WAY high! and they have a product trade-up program. i am seriously considering trading in a few of my older products (including that monster desktop) for another laptop!

this is a serious issue... i am happier with my old 433MHz laptop than i am with my 1.8GHz desktop. there are serious performance issues, all centering on the pre-loaded software. NEVER again!

back to the grind…

well, i've been out of the loop for a few months. been having loads of fun with my grandbaby, doing a bit of homeside "R & R" and just enough work to keep my fingers busy.

reworking my website, and then i'll rework a couple client sites. it seems everytime i learn a new thing, i have to apply it quickly. sometimes it's easy, sometimes not. most of the time it's "transparent". this particular time it's a matter of convenience (the site had to move from one host to another - as good a time as any to do some "spring cleaning")
